Election day is Saturday, May 1, 2021, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Jersey Village City Hall located at 16327 Lakeview Drive.
This election is very important to all residents of Jersey Village because it is a chance to have your voice heard and to select candidates that are willing to get your input on projects and decisions that affect your property taxes. Existing members of the Jersey Village City Council and Mayor have stated that a vote by the residents to build a new city hall across 290 was not required nor planned before they would commit the city to the construction of that building at approximately $8 million dollars. A petition was signed by about 850 residents requiring a vote by residents before the city hall could be moved from the present location. That will be presented to the voters on a ballot in November 2021.
Ask yourself, “Why would the members of City Council not want the residents to have a chance to vote on this issue and how did they accumulate that much surplus funds to be able to pay for it out of CASH funds?” Did they believe the residents would not approve of the plans that have never been presented to the voters before?
It is time for new faces at city hall that want to understand the desires of all of the residents.
